WoodSongs finds new home in Lexington

The WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour has ended their residency at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington, KY, moving the operation of their recurring radio and television show to a new location in town.

Starting February 2, 2026, WoodSongs will broadcast their live music program, which often features bluegrass artists, to the Scottish Rites Hall in Lexington. Their new agreement will be in force for the next five years, and will include their other popular show, WoodSongs Kids, which highlights young performers in traditional American music.

Host Michael Jonathan shared his gratitude for their three seasons at the Lyric, and suggested that regular attendees in the live audience would find themselves right at home in this new venue.

“We greatly appreciate our residency at the Lyric Theatre, it’s been wonderful. Everyone from Judy Collins to Béla Fleck, Blind Boys of Alabama, Tommy Emmanuel, Amy Grant, Bobby Rush to Roger McGuinn have all appeared on the stage of the Lyric, along with literally hundreds of other artists from around the world.

Aside from the abundance of free parking, our audience will find the Scottish Rite Hall to be very comfortable and inviting. With warm, vaulted wood ceilings, comfortable theater seats, great acoustics, and it has a nice ‘Alice’s Restaurant’ look to it.

The Scottish Rite hall gives us back the ‘Monday Family Date Night’ feel we’ve missed for a long time. The venue is in a great part of Lexington surrounded by cafes, fine restaurants, music stores and more. WoodSongs will continue to be all volunteer run, and our WoodSongs Partners will continue to come free.”

Carl Gibson, Secretary of the Lexington Scottish Rite, welcomed WoodSongs to their facility.

“The members of The Lexington Scottish Rite are excited to partner with WoodSongs. We feel confident that the legacies of service will be enhanced by the partnership. We look forward to seeing everyone in February 2026 and beyond.”

Scheduled in the next few programs on WoodSongs are Trey Hensley and Southern Legacy.

The show is streamed live online all over the world, and rebroadcast on RFD-TV. It is also aired on several hundred radio stations worldwide.
