The Kody Norris Show is embracing the Semiquincentennial of the United States of America in a big way with their latest single, The Spirit of America.
Written by the great Aubrey Holt and first recorded by his son, Tony Holt, with The Wildwood Valley Boys, the song celebrates the vitality and diligence of the American people. The verses highlight some examples of hard working Americans while the chorus salutes us all.
Kody says that the coming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence suggested this one to him.
“As we celebrate America250, Spirit of America was one of the first songs we knew we had to record. The hardworking hands behind this country are the very ones that have kept our nation moving forward for 250 years, and we hope to honor a few of them with this song.”
It’s the first taste of the band’s next album, and features the same Show currently touring the US. Kody is on guitar and lead vocals, with Mary Rachel Nalley Norris on mandolin and fiddle, Jim Hensley on banjo and percussion, and Charlie Lowman on bass. Mary Rachel sings the harmony vocal.
It’s a dandy, played in their trademark traditional bluegrass style. Have a listen.
The Spirit of America is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers from Get It Played and AirPlay Direct.
