Bruce and Jody Watson open their home several times a year and hold in house concerts for some of their favorite bluegrass bands. Their home is Hollow Point Farm in Bushnell, Florida, and Sunday was one of those concerts. Their home holds around 50 guests for shows. It was full.
There was also a special guest on hand. Drag racing enthusiasts will recognize the name Don “Big Daddy” Garlits. Bruce introduced 94-year-old Garlits to the crowd. He has his racing museum in Ocala, Florida.
Nick Dumas & Branchline finished their Florida tour Sunday at Hollow Point. Branchline consists of Nick on mandolin, his wife Hana on fiddle, Daniel Thrailkill on guitar, Andrew Knapp on bass, and Will McSeveney on banjo.
Many will remember Nick as a member of Special Consensus. He and Hana reside in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin where they are part of Fiddler’s Farm.
Will is the founder of Skyline Records, for whom Nick records.
There was plenty of lighthearted banter throughout the show. Daniel has a toddler and a five-month-old at home and Nick joked that he was on vacation.
The audience got a full measure of the band’s music. Keep an eye out for the band’s schedule and see them if they are in your area.
Caroline Owens will be at Hollow Point in March.
