Millionaire video from Big Richard

Big Richard, a Colorado alt-bluegrass outfit who has become very popular west of the Mississippi, has a single released just ahead of their upcoming album, Pet, expected tomorrow on Signature Sounds.

The group consists of four women prominent in the Colorado acoustic music scene, and their basis is modern bluegrass, but eschewing the guitar and banjo, substituting the cello in their place. Bonnie Sims is on mandolin, Joy Adams on cello, Hazel Royer on bass, and Eve Panning on fiddle. Big Richard describes their sound as “bluegrass, with a side of lady rage.”

They are certainly upset in this video for the new single, Millionaire, a person they would seem to hold in very low esteem indeed.

The video captures the raw energy that has always been a hallmark of their live show, and the provocative lyrics of their group compositions.

Check it out.

Look for Millionaire and Pet on Friday, February 6 from popular download and streaming services online. CDs, digital downloads, and vinyl can be ordered on bandcamp.
