West Virginia grassers Crandall Creek have announced a new lead singer for the band. Megan Paullet comes to them from Pittsburgh, where she has been singing in a variety of styles since giving up competitive swimming in 2014.
Megan has joined following the departure of previous vocalist, Carly Greer, who has made the move to Nashville to pursue a solo career.
Founder and guitarist Jerry Andrews offered a warm welcome to Paullet.
“Megan has an amazing voice for all genres and fits beautifully in the bluegrass vein. She’s also a gifted multi-instrumentalist with a strong work ethic, and a great musical sensibility. We’re all looking forward to this new chapter with her.”
The all Jerry refers to is the rest of Crandall Creek, which includes Dustin Terpenning on banjo, Ray Bruckman on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and Sav Nelson on bass.
Megan shared that she’s excited to get to sing some bluegrass music.
“This project marks my very first true dive into bluegrass, and I couldn’t be more excited. While I’m not a bluegrass artist by trade, I’ve long had a deep appreciation for the style. As a multi-genre artist, I’ve always drawn inspiration from many musical worlds, and bluegrass has been part of that listening and learning along the way. Some of my longtime favorites include Foggy Mountain Breakdown by Flatt & Scruggs and Blue Moon of Kentucky, which I first encountered through Patsy Cline’s version before tracing it back to its bluegrass roots. Stepping into this project feels both humbling and invigorating—like entering a tradition-rich conversation that I’m thrilled to learn from and contribute to.
Crandall Creek has been making powerful waves in bluegrass, and their recent Josie Music Awards recognition in Nashville speaks volumes. I’m incredibly honored to come aboard and create music with such a passionate, talented group!”
We won’t have to wait long to hear Megan with Crandall Creek, as they have a new single, Cold Morning Rain, expected in the very near future.
Something to look forward to.
