Matt Leadbetter to Sound Biscuit Records

Sound Biscuit Records in Sevierville, TN has announced the signing of veteran resophonic guitarist Matt Leadbetter to the label.

Matt’s is a familiar name among bluegrass lovers, having toured and recorded for many years with top acts like Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike, Lonesome River Band, Marty Raybon & Full Circle, and currently with Dale Ann Bradley. He comes by his reso chops naturally, as the son of the late Phil Leadbetter, everyone’s favorite Uncle Phil, who likewise spent his musical career on stage with artists like J.D. Crowe & The New South, and Grasstowne.

Work is expected to begin soon on a new album with Sound Biscuit, and Leadbetter speaks highly of his new label partners.

“It’s an honor to join Sound Biscuit Records. Dave Maggard has built an exceptional label and studio with an incredible lineup of artists. It feels like the perfect musical home for me, and I’m excited to be part of the roster and get new music out this year.”

That roster includes The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, Laney & Bishop, Kenny Feinstein, Water Tower, New River Bluegrass, Belles of Blue, Corey Zink, Avery Welter, Jesse Brock, and C.J. Lewandowski.

Maggard, Sound Biscuit CEO, says that they are psyched to have Matt join the team.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Matt on this new project. His years dedicated as a working musician have paid off well, and getting to be part of this time in his journey is humbling. Looking forward to showing the world who Matt Leadbetter is.”

Matt’s upcoming album is slated to highlight his delighted reso-guitar playing, as well as a set of songs he has carefully chosen to present to the bluegrass public.
