A new single from twin-fiddle sensations Jason Carter & Michael Cleveland, Let’s Sing Our Song, is set to release tomorrow, with a music video shot at the Opry featuring John Cowan. It’s a song written by Jerry Reed, which he recorded back in 1975.
This track was recorded during the sessions for the duo’s award-winning album, Carter & Cleveland, and didn’t make the final cut. But Michael and Jason liked it so well that they decided to release it on its own.
Carter says that the song is a big hit on stage.
“I first heard this on a Jerry Reed record and fell in love with it. It’s one of my favorites that we recorded. I love the Cajun-style twin fiddles and the whole vibe of the song — and it’s also one of my favorites to play live.”
Cleveland agrees, even suggesting that it makes him want to move his feet.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Jerry Reed. There’s just something about the way he played and sang — so effortless, so groovy, so full of personality. So when Jason brought up doing this tune, it wasn’t even a discussion for me. Every time I hear it, my mood lifts about ten notches.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m a terrible dancer — nobody’s hiring me for choreography — but if I’m ever going to try, it’s going to be to this song.”
Since Cowan sang on the studio version, they asked him to join them on the Opry when they performed it live.
We have an early look at the video for you this evening, which also features Frank Rische on guitar, Joshua Gooding on mandolin, Cody Looper on banjo, and Norbert McGettigan on bass.
Enjoy!
Let’s Sing Our Song from Carter & Cleveland will be available from popular download and streaming services on March 6. Pre-saves are enabled now.
Radio programers will find the track at Get It Played.
