Let’s All Go Down to the River from Steve Bruce Band

The Steve Bruce Band, led by the banjo-pickin’ Pastor of the Faithway Assembly of God in LaFollette, TN, Steve Bruce, has a new single to share from the most recent project, A Family Tradition – Part 2.

The Band is a family group, made up of Bruce on banjo, his granddaughter Eden Alderman on fiddle, her parents, Whitney Alderman, on vocals, her husband, Lukus Alderman, on bass, and Steve’s son, Andrew Bruce, on guitar and vocals. Bob Powell, a good friend and long-time musical associate of Steve’s, plays mandolin.

For this latest single, they have chosen Let’s All Go Down to the River, a country gospel number written by Earl Montgomery and Sue Richards, and first recorded in 1972 by Jody Miller and Johnny Paycheck. It wasn’t a huge hit, but did make it into the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot Country chart. Since that time it’s been recorded by many artists, including The Gaither Family, Alabama, Jack Cooke, and The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys.

Steve et al have sped it up a bit from how it is usually sung, and turned in a fine rendition of this popular song.

Have a listen.

Let’s All Go Down to the River, and the full Family Tradition – Part 2 album, are available from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct. Audio CDs can be ordered directly from the artists.
