Dr. Banjo, aka Pete Wernick, has a job coming open this spring for an office manager in his business office. This is a remote position, so anyone, anywhere, whose interests and abilities line up with the job requirements is encouraged to apply.
Pete shared this message about the position, which he says is almost full time, but not quite.
“Our Office Manager, Leslie Dare, will be moving on after seven years, while continuing to teach Wernick Method camps and classes part-time. She has done a whale of a job, working closely with me daily, and steadily strengthening and streamlining our infrastructure and website. She plans to train her replacement in May, and our focus now is to attract and consider applicants, and hire that new person!
The job is demanding but very fulfilling. As with her 9-year predecessor Rick Saenz and like me as well, we’ve all been mission-driven, working hard for extremely gratifying results: many thousands of newly competent and confident bluegrass jammers throughout the US. and in 12 other countries! There’s never been an organization in bluegrass anything like the Wernick Method, with our ongoing goal to become to bluegrass what the Suzuki Method is for people learning to play classical music.
Our current income after expenses, including printing and shipping teacher training and student materials, is not yet enough to offer a full professional salary for the Office Manager job, but that time is coming. This year our Wernick Method classes will number over 200, for over 2,000 students. Our student materials are in four languages with more to come, and all told our teachers have taken home over $3 million from their classes and camps. Like last year, 2026 looks to be our biggest year yet.
Leslie has automated and systematized our procedures, so her replacement will have a well-organized ‘dashboard’ to handle tasks including processing registrations, adding new teachers, student communications, providing student materials, and all administration and finances. Leslie will do the training, something she’s experienced at from previous administrative jobs.
Here is a link to the job description and application for the Office Manager position. The link also includes a description and application for a Graphic Designer, a much smaller job. Leslie has been doing both jobs and we can accept applications for either or both jobs.”
If you’ve been looking for a chance to break in to the bluegrass business, this could be a great opportunity.
