One of the more popular bluegrass outfits in the southeast this past few years was a duo that billed as Starlett & Big John, aka Starlett Boswell and John Talley. He was a Virginia boy, and she hailed from North Carolina. They have since gone their separate ways, resulting in the creation of a new band.
So welcome Starlett & The Bluegrass Knights with Starlett on bass and out front as lead vocalist and primary songwriter. They got together last summer as Boswell was preparing to start work on a solo project, and were in this studio this past weekend recording for the first band album with Clay Hess producing.
Jeff Huffman is playing guitar, with Clifton Preddy on fiddle, Kevin Strouth on mandolin, and Charlie Payne on banjo.
Starlett says that they hope to have a debut single ready by the start of the new year, but she is talking to labels now, so there could be a delay.
Here’s a taste of that first track, one she wrote called Safe Harbor. Just a sneak peek.
Given Starlett’s strength as a vocalist, songwriter, and entertainer, we expect this new bunch to be signed quickly and make an immediate impact.
Starlett & The Bluegrass Nights are being represented by Michelle Lee with N2N Entertainment, who can be reached by email or phone (615-556-4642).
