End Of The Line from Anthony Howell

Anthony Howell, the crackerjack banjo man with Seth Mulder & Midnight Run, has a new single coming up, one he has written for the five string called End Of The Line. It won’t be available for streaming until March 30, but he has asked us to share it for everyone to enjoy in advance.

This is one that will have banjo pickers scratching their heads figuring out to how to play it themselves, as Howell toys with the meter and the chord changes.

As is his wont, Anthony plays all the instruments here, save fiddle, which is a contribution from David Mansfield lll, the newest member of Midnight Run. And he tells us that his dexterity on so many instruments is partially responsible for the delay in getting started on an upcoming banjo album.

“I’m really excited about this upcoming banjo project!

I started working on this in 2023 with the intention to have it ready in a decent amount of time. Well, I ended up getting a job playing guitar full-time, so I decided it didn’t make sense for me to put out a banjo album. It would be kind of hard for me to sell it on the road as a guitar player!

Now that I’m back playing banjo full-time, I figured it was time to dust it off start getting it released!

I’m really excited about this first single! When I wrote it, it put me in the mindset of a train running off the track, so I named it End Of The Line.”

Have a listen.

End Of The Line is available now to radio programmers via Get It Played. It will be shared through popular download and streaming services starting on March 30. Pre-saves are enabled now.
