West Virginia’s Crandall Creek has announced Edwin McCoy as the newest member of the band, coming aboard on fiddle. He steps in for Ray Bruckman whose intense teaching schedule was an impediment to touring.
Just 19 years of age, Edwin comes with a pedigree. He is the son of Chance McCoy of Old Crow Medicine Show, so he grew up surrounded by traditional music. Edwin started with guitar at eight, exploring rock music for a few years, but turned his attention to bluegrass and old time before very long. He picked the banjo at 16, and then fiddle, and has won and placed in multiple instrument competitions since. McCoy is delighted to accept his first professional gig with Crandall Creek.
Edwin joins Jerry Andrews on guitar, Dustin Terpenning on banjo, Sav Nelson on bass, and Megan Paulett on vocals.
You can see he and Dustin in action here jamming on some John Hardy.
The Crandall Creek tour schedule is posted online. Check them out when they’re in your neck of the woods.
