Can we help the Buenos Aires Bluegrass festival?

Our friends with the Argentinian bluegrass band Estacion 39 have asked us to share a message from Buenos Aires Bluegrass, a newly-minted annual festival in the nation’s capital.

The festival has been successfully held for the last three years, but as a largely volunteer effort. They are currently doing some fundraising to get themselves on a better financial footing, and asked if Bluegrass Today readers might be willing to share a bit of spare cash to help them keep the festival going.

The band shared this statement, along with some recent photos, and a clever crowdfunding appeal.

Buenos Aires Bluegrass is an annual festival that has been held every year since 2022. In this part of the world, country music is popular and there are several festivals around the country, but there wasn’t a space for bluegrass bands or old‑time jams. That’s how the idea of creating a space dedicated to bluegrass and old‑time was born. Thus, Buenos Aires Bluegrass was created.

It’s always a free, family‑friendly event where, besides a lineup of local bands, you can enjoy a curated fair with artisans, luthiers, and even a barber for a haircut. We also include workshops on washboards and line‑dance. And we always encourage the audience to bring their instruments and join the old‑time jam.

Buenos Aires Bluegrass is a non‑profit festival, it has no sponsors, but it does have a lot of people who help us. For that reason, we seek collective funding through cafecito.app (a crowdfunding app) for locals, or a PayPal link for those who want to help from abroad.

In the 15+ years Bluegrass Today has been operating, we have watched expansive growth in bluegrass music outside of the US, something we have chronicled in our bi-monthly column, Bluegrass Beyond Borders. These days, quality bluegrass is being played and recorded all over the world, in many different languages. It would make Bill Monroe blush with pride.

You can make a donation to this Buenos Aires Bluegrass appeal via PayPal or Cafecito, using these links.
