Some of you may belong to the Bluegrass Memed Facebook group, or follow their channel on YouTube, which Justin Koch has managed for the past six years. He created them as an interactive community for bluegrass enthusiasts, including both musicians and fans.
Justin is a Florida grasser, who has been playing guitar since he was 12. He grew up attending festivals all over the southeast, and fell hard for bluegrass. Just two years ago, he took first place in the RockyGrass Flatpick Guitar Competition, taking home what he calls “a gorgeous Preston Thompson Guitars model D-MA.”
Now Koch has launched an online Bluegrass Memed apparel and merchandise company, offering a variety of shirts and hoodies with bluegrass-themed graphics and clever epigrams. These are high-quality items, available in a number of colors and sizes, as well as caps, mugs, and stickers.
He says that it all started as a way to share funny images and videos, and grew from there.
“The platform was intended to serve as a central hub where folks could share original, humorous content, setting it apart from conventional pages that offer only passive viewing.
With the support of a few close friends joining me, the group was promoted online, and it spread like wildfire. Thanks to the group members, in a few years, that same Facebook community has grown to more than 25,000 bluegrassers.
Since then, the group of friends behind Bluegrass Memed has claimed additional social media platforms, such as YouTube for sharing jam session videos, including recent collaborations with bluegrass festivals to produce miniature documentaries to promote their events and increase attendance.
In response to numerous requests and the itch to start something new, Bluegrass Memed has launched an apparel line, which has achieved strong initial success. Orders have been received from across the United States, as well as internationally.
The crew running Bluegrass Memed wanted to create quality bluegrass products they could personally endorse, and we think you’ll love wearing the apparel anywhere.”
