Afraid To Say Goodbye from Nick Dumas

Wisconsin recording artist Nick Dumas has a new single today with Skyline Records, one he wrote with Zach Top while the two were playing bluegrass together some time ago.

Now a rising country star, Top and Dumas grew up together in the bluegrass world in the northwestern part of the country. Afraid To Say Goodbye came from that era, before Nick joined up with Special Consensus and Zach struck it big in Nashville. A third co-writer is Skyline President Will McSeveney, who also plays banjo on the track.

Nick says that he’s been fond of this one since he and Zach put it together.

“I’ve always loved this song. It was written by my buddies Zach and Will, and I’ve been hearing it and playing it for years now. There’s just something about it that’s so catchy, and the melody is just really cool. This recorded version is extra special because the members of my touring band, Branchline, are playing on it, and they absolutely killed it. It’s got a modern bluegrass feel with a country-style lyric, and I just fell in love with the abstract message of the song.”

Dumas plays mandolin and sings the lead, with McSeveney on banjo, Daniel Thrailkill on guitar, Carley Arrowood on fiddle, Michael Kilby on reso-guitar, and Andrew Knapp on bass.

It’s a good’n. Have a listen.

Afraid To Say Goodbye is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.
