In something of a family reunion, Bobby Osborne Jr, has been announced as the new bassist with the Larry Stephenson Band.
Bobby is the youngest son of Bobby Osborne of The Osborne Brothers fame, and Stephenson was a close friend to both Bobby the elder and his brother, Sonny Osborne, for a great many years. When you hear Larry sing and play, the similarities to Bobby Sr. are unmistakable, so it is something of a tender, full-circle moment bringing Bobby Jr. into the band.
Jr. has his own professional career, starting out playing rhythm guitar with The Osborne Brothers, and on bass for some time with his dad’s band, Rocky Top X-Press. Bobby had also spent several years touring with The Price Sisters before joining up with Stephenson.
Larry says that he is very pleased with his newest bandmate.
“We’re really happy to have Bobby, Jr. in the band. His bass playing is second to none and he sure knows how to sing harmony parts. Of course he does; we all know who he learned from!
I look forward to working with him for many years to come!”
The Larry Stephenson Band’s 2026 tour kicks into full gear next month, and you can find where they’ll be stopping online.
