The Infamous Stringdusters have shared a final single before the February 13 release of their next album, 20/20, on the Americana Vibes label.
It’s a song written by banjo man Chris Pandolfi called Up From The Bottom, which he says is the story of his recovery from the isolation and disruption of the COVID shutdowns.
“This song is my comeback story. After everything shut down in 2020, I was stuck at home and I felt like the world was closing in on me. I would sing that chorus to myself, and eventually it grew into a full on comeback anthem, as well as the first song I ever wrote fully on my own for the band.
I finished it as I was starting to rediscover my inspiration and really sink myself into songwriting, and expressing myself with words. It’s a little deceptive because it’s a very personal song and Travis [Book] sings it on the record, but we figured out that his voice sounds great on it, and the music leads the way.”
The song’s theme may seem to be a reflection on the title of the album, but in fact 20/20 is named for the band’s 20th anniversary together, with 20 songs on tap.
Up From The Bottom features the aforementioned Travis Book on bass and lead vocal, with Pandolfi on banjo, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Hall on reso-guitar, and Andy Falco on guitar.
Give it a look and a listen.
Up From The Bottom is available now from popular download and streaming services online. Pre-orders and pre-saves from 20/20 are likewise enabled.
The ‘Dusters are currently touring in support of the album, with a fairly steady stream of dates all over the US.
