Martinsburg, WV’s Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band has announced the addition of guitarist and vocalist Gregg Bowers to the group.
Still a young man, Gregg has been playing since his early teens, has developed a deep love for bluegrass music, and brings previous experience performing with Ernie Bradley & the Grassy Ridge Band and The Hazards.
Stoney Creek founder and bassist Libby Files says that it’s been a smooth transition.
“I met him about 15 years ago, and he is definitely a good fit for the band.”
Mandolinist Brett Smeltzer reports that he only knew Bowers as a fellow eight-stringer.
“Gregg has been a great friend, and has been a great follower and supporter of our music for years. I was surprised to know that Gregg was auditioning for guitar player with Stoney Creek, not knowing of his guitar background since I had only known him as a mandolinist in previous bands.”
As for Bowers himself, he says he’s delighted for this opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to the future with Stoney Creek and being a team player. Stoney Creek is a well established band that has been around for a long time. The professionalism of each member is extraordinary, and very attractive, and it shows in the quality of the music that is produced.
I’m thrilled to have been offered a position in Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band.”
The group is completed with Rylan Rissler on banjo.
They will be posting spring and summer show dates soon on the band web site.
