Medical fund established for Bambi Boyd

Homer and Bambi Boyd

Bambi Boyd, wife of Homer Boyd (former co-promoter of Wayside Bluegrass Festival in Stuart, VA and 14-year volunteer with the Willow Oak Bluegrass Festival in Roxboro, NC) is in a fight for her life. Bambi has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, which has metastasized to her liver. The couple face mounting medical bills for her treatment. They are seeking financial assistance from the bluegrass community.

Bambi shared, “The surgeon said that I will have 11 months to live. Since it’s stage four, they weren’t going to do surgery. However, my surgeon said that if my masses keep shrinking and my CA19-9 results keep coming down, I continue to eat well and exercise, he might consider doing an operation.”

Homer added, “That’s where we are right now. We go back to the surgeon on the fifth of February to do another biopsy to see if she’s eligible to be operated on.”

Bambi outlined her treatment regime.

“I go to chemotherapy every other week. I get two types of chemo and a pump that I wear for 48 hours, then I go back for them to remove it. I used to get one other chemo, but it caused me to have neuropathy in my feet and hands. It also caused me to be sensitive to cold so I was unable to drink anything cold or get anything from the refrigerator. When I would drink something cold it felt as if I was swallowing glass. Thank goodness I don’t have that problem anymore, but I still have neuropathy in my hands and feet.”

There are two ways to assist. A GoFundMe page has been established online, or donations may be mailed directly to:

Bambi Boyd
4561 Cherry Creek Road
Meadows of Dan, VA 24120c

Checks may be made to Homer or Bambi Boyd.

Bambi concluded, “I just paid $696 for a bill from Wake Forest and that won’t be the last I’m sure, especially if I have the surgery. My prescriptions run me about $400 a month. So anything would be much appreciated.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bambi as she travels the difficult journey.
