Rhonda Vincent heading to Carnegie Hall

Ever since Flatt & Scruggs’ triumphant concert at Carnegie Hall in 1962, that storied venue in Manhattan has been on the list of must-plays for any professional bluegrass artist.

We have just learned that the Queen of Bluegrass herself, Rhonda Vincent is bound for Carnegie Hall, appearing on a special Grand Ole Opry show there on March 20. Part of Carnegie’s United in Sound: America at 250 series. Rhonda will share the bill with a number of Opry regulars, including Henry Cho, Scotty McCreery, and The War and Treaty.

Billed as An Evening with the Grand Ole Opry, it is one of 35 special concerts in this series, encompassing the breadth of American music, including film music, jazz, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop, country, bluegrass, and classical.

This will be the fourth such Opry stars show at Carnegie Hall. The first, in 1947, was with Ernest Tubb and the Grand Ole Opry Stars, which also included Bill Monroe & The Blue Grass Boys and The Carter Sisters. It was a sold out show. Another in 1961 benefited the Musician’s Aid Society, headlined by Patsy Cline in her sole Carnegie Hall performance. The most recent was in 2005, celebrating the Opry’s 80th anniversary, with Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs among a bevy of Nashville stars.

Vincent will be appearing with her trusty touring band, The Rage, and will certainly give Carnegie concertgoers a taste of real bluegrass and acoustic country music!

Tickets, starting at $60, are available now online.
