Red Camel Collective to make Opry debut in February

Red Camel Collective has been invited to make their Grand Ole Opry debut on February 27. Needless to say, the band is very excited about this major career milestone.

This group, led by guitar, vocalist, and songwriter Heather Berry Mabe, also functions as the touring band for Junior Sisk. As Junior is slowing down with a goal of retirement in the coming years, he has encouraged the Camels, named for one of his songs, The Man in Red Camels, to pursue booking and recording opportunities on their own.

And so they have. Signed to Pinecastle Records they have a popular, self-titled album, and another on the way.

With Heather are her husband, Tony Mabe, on banjo and vocals, Johnathan Dillon on mandolin and vocals, and Curt Love on bass.

Heather says that the invitation came out of the blue.

“Gina Keltner, who books at the Opry reached out to Pinecastle Records about having us come to play. We are truly honored to have this opportunity.”

Keltner keeps a close eye on the bluegrass scene, and has invited a number of upcoming artists to perform on their big stage, alongside top acts in both bluegrass and country. Bluegrass artists always go over big at the Opry, given the energy and enthusiasm they bring, so much so that a standing ovation is generally the rule, especially for debut acts.

Congratulations to Red Camel Collective. They promise to get plenty of photos from their big night at the Opry, which we will run after the fact.

Tickets for the February 27 show are available now online.
