The spring Palatka Bluegrass Festival kicked off Thursday afternoon. Promoter Ernie Evans was busy tying up last minute details. Sherry Boyd handles the MC duties better than anyone else. Kevin McKinnon is manning the sound board.

The Alaskan Sunnyside Sisters are having a busy season. They are playing a lot of dates with a big one coming up. The girls will be playing on the Grand Ol Opry as part of the Oh Brother, Where Art Thou tribute on February 28. See these youngsters if you get the chance.

Ian Lane and Southern Flavor is rapidly becoming one of Florida’s most in-demand bands. The Padgett brothers provide sibling harmony along with Ian and/or Keith Bass. This group has a bright future.

Larry Stephenson has earned many accolades, now in his 37th year leading his band. He has brought Bobby Osborne Jr. (Boj) in as his bass player. Boj brings some of the flavor of the Osborne Brothers to the band.

Rhonda Vincent is the consummate professional. She told the audience that she was having some respiratory issues, but she muscled through her two sets very well.

Friday and Saturday promise more top shelf bluegrass music at the Rodeheaver Boys Ranch in Palatka, Florida.
